Alumni Staff
Collectively, they could be described as the backbone of the UL Lafayette Alumni Association. They make sure that alumni events go off without a hitch; they organize and plan for the future of the Association; and they implement a lot of your ideas and suggestions, just to name a few of the things they do.
The Alumni Association staff is an integral part of the Association’s success and is composed of individuals who have a lot in common, but whose talents and interests are diverse. Get to know the people behind the Alumni Association. . . Dan Hare - Director Dan is responsible for the overall administration of activities, programs and special projects sponsored by the Alumni Association. He is responsible for the budget and leadership of the alumni staff. Dan coordinates activities of the Alumni Council and its board of directors and is charged with identifying and recruiting future volunteer leaders. He oversees the Association's recognition programs for distinguished alumni and outstanding students. He also participates in fund raising activities, donor identification and cultivation. Dan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, majoring in Finance, from UL in 1983. Prior to joining the alumni staff in 1997, Dan worked for the University in Student Affairs as Assistant Dean of Student Personnel, Union Program Advisor and Assistant Director of Housing. He had been an active volunteer with the Association for several years, served as chairman of the 1996 Alumni Homecoming Committee. and was the recipient of the AlumniService Award in 1997. Dan is a native of Lafayette, active in many community organizations, and a member of the 2008 Class of Leadership Louisiana.
Email Dan John Claude Arceneaux - Assistant Director John Claude is responsible for the Association's internet presence and marketing. A Lafayette native, he is a 1995 Public Relations graduate of UL. He was previously employed at the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission and the Graham Group, a local advertising agency. While a student, he was active on campus in PRSSA, Sigma Gamma Mu Communication Honor Society and Theta Xi Fraternity. He previously served on the Alumni Homecoming Committee. John Claude is actively involved with various community, non-profit and church organizations and is married to Cassie Plough Arceneaux, Education '93.
Email John Claude Keith Guidry - Assistant Director Keith is responsible for planning all the Alumni Association’s special events, such as Homecoming, Spring Gala and alumni travel opportunities. Keith joins the Alumni office after serving as the administrator and curator of the Opelousas Museum of Art for six years. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the Spring 2000 at UL Lafayette. While enrolled at UL, he was very active on campus as a member of the UL Lafayette Student Government Association, Vermilion Newspaper, L’Acadien Student Yearbook, and the Association of Future Alumni. Keith and his wife, Lisa, reside in Opelousas where he is an active parishioner at Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
Email Keith Jonas Landry - Assistant Director Jonas is responsible for providing assistance as a liaison to the Alumni Association's Ragin' Cajun Clubs and Alumni Chapters. He helps coordinate all club and chapter events, as well as volunteer management. He supervises the Staff Assistant and also serves as advisor to the Student Alumni Association. A native of Lafayette, Jonas has a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from UL. While enrolled at UL, Jonas was a member of AAF (Acadiana Advertising Federation), RTNDA (Radio-Television News Directors Association, Sigma Gamma Mu Communication Honor Society and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He comes to the Alumni Association with several years of experience in the local media arena including tenures at a radio station cluster, advertising agency and a television station. Jonas and his wife Ashleigh, also a UL graduate, reside in Lafayette.
Email Jonas Holly Leger - Assistant Director Holly is responsible for the growth and development of the Annual Fund. A native of Lafayette, she is a graduate of UL’s colleges of Liberal Arts and Graduate School. With combined Bachelor and Master of Science degrees, Holly spent several years practicing mental health therapy as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She comes to the Alumni Association after recently serving as an Administrative Director for a local counseling agency. She has previous employment and intern experience at several on-campus offices including Enrollment Services, Counseling and Testing, Services for Students with Disabilities, and University College. While a student at UL, Holly was a member of the co-ed cheerleading squad, Phi Mu sorority, and Psi Chi Honor Society. Holly is married to Douglas Leger, Engineering ‘02.
Email Holly Tammy Habetz - Administrative Coordinator Tammy manages the day-to-day efficient operation of the Alumni Center along with the clerical needs of the office. She answers incoming calls, supervises student workers, processes registration for special events like Homecoming and reunions and assists with special events, including caravans, tailgating, reunions, Homecoming, tournaments, and club functions. She is responsible for the process of booking the Alumni Center and handles all inquiries pertaining to the center. Tammy is the first contact most alumni have when calling or visiting the office. She has two daughters, Tiffany (UL '08), and Lindsay and is grandmother to one grandchild, Garry.
Email Tammy Debbie Trahan - Administrative Secretary Debbie serves as the administrative assistant to the director. She is the recording secretary for the Alumni Council, which includes preparing monthly budget reports as well as transcribing board meeting minutes. Debbie assists at special events, including caravans, tailgating, reunions, Homecoming, tournaments, and club functions. She has worked at the Alumni Office for over 21 years and coordinates our presentations at commencement, as well as, the Outstanding Graduate process. Debbie lives in Opelousas and has three children: Crystal, Jason (UL '06), and Joshua (UL soph.). She is also the proud grandmother of Kaleb, Connor, Anna Beth, Mary Katherine and John Parker.
Email Debbie Conor Runkel - Staff Assistant Conor is currently a senior pursuing his bachelors degree in Marketing. He is an avid Ragin' Cajun fan and UL supporter hailing from the great state of New Jersey. He serves as staff liaison to the Association of Future Alumni (AFA), the Young Alumni Chapter, and the Parent's Club. As such, he works on projects such as AFA's Graduation Gift Fundraiser, Parent's Tailgating, Young Alumni Club events and is coordinator of Grad Expo as well as the Parents' Reception during summer Orientation.
